This cycling tour Canal du Midi France is graded as easy, mainly flat roads and canal paths, with lots of coastal aspects, peppered with fascinating villages, including the UNESCO listed Carcassonne with the historic fort.
And of course, the food and wine. Wine varieties include a Rosé called Vin de Sable, or the crisp white of Picpoul de Pinet an ideal match to the local shellfish dishes. Near Pézénas there are prestigious vineyards producing full bodied reds, and further south are the sparkling wines of Limoux.
You will view the Sète lagoon and its' famous pink flamingos, ride the cobbled streets and canals of Sete and medieval town of Pezenas. You will find fantastic sea views around the Etang de Thau & cycle along the gorgeous Canal du Midi.
Day 1
Arrive Sete, wonder this lovely town, meet your guides and fellow riders, enjoy restaurant dinner.
Day 2
Cycling via Etang de Thau to medieval town of Pezenas, delightful day of cycling. 42km/210m gain
Day 3
A circular ride to Agde with a wine tasting on the return to Pezenas. 46km/180m
Day 4
A beautiful ride via Tourbes & Beziers to our Château hotel in Lignan-sur-Orb, stroll in the shady gardens or swim in the new pool. 48km/300m
Day 5
Following the Canal du Midi with a couple of diversions of wine tastings, a swim or both! Overnight in hamlet of Cabezac. 49km/260m
Day 6
A gorgeous day of Canal cycling heading to the stunning UNESCO village of Carcassonne. A final group dinner and exploration of this amazing town. 49km/100m
Day 7
Sad farewells and onward transfers as required.
